How to market your book without social media

So you published a book, congrats.

Here is the thing though, the hard work has just begun. Posting on social media and telling your audience that you published a book is not enough.

The reality is, many of your followers will like and retweet your posts and write kind notes and congratulatory messages but few will swipe their credit cards and buy the book immediately from your social media posts.

Here are my top tips to promote your book that has nothing to do with “posting on social media”:

  • Start small by targeting your local community. Stop by your local library and ask to be featured in their local authors’ section.
  • Create bookmarks of your book (You can use a service like Vista Print). and drop them off at libraries, coffee shops, and indie bookstores, and give them to friends, family, and neighbors. People love bookmarks.
  • Research local events that are happening like book festivals and ask to be featured as a speaker, or rent a table to display your books.
  • Research podcasts and ask to be featured as a guest. You can use a service like http://podmatch.com.
  • Connect with local book clubs in your city and ask if they are interested in hosting you as a writer where they read your book and…
